The Pleasant Dreams of Timmy Weems is a serie of 7 short animations which tells the story of a little boy called "Timmy" who wants to make his career-dreams come true at a young age.
These were made by me as my graduation project.
The animations are focussed on dark humor, a type of comedy i like to work with a lot. I wanted to combine my love for comedy, music composing, concepting and animation in this project.
The overall style is very much inspired by Tim Burton's sketch work. His work is always a big inspiration to me.
It all began with some doodles i drew while on my internship. I didn't actively think much about it untill way later. I originally had another project as graduation project, but it failed because i didn't have enough time and grew to hate it.
The overal story and some jokes i borrowed from that failed project and together with some of the character sketches i reworked it in another style and medium i was comfortable and happy with.
I think the strongest point of me and this project is the concepting side of it. The writing, building up of the joke and the sudden twist, the music supporting the storytelling and the events happening in the animation. It is something i really enjoy figuring and sketch out.
The script, music, art & animation were all made by me. The voice over is done by Saara Salminen.
